Yoga Teaching Background:
My name is Bri, I am a 500-hour registered yoga teacher and have assisted various other teacher trainings as a TA . I am trained in Rasa Yoga, an alignment-based yoga style infused with asana, mantra, mudra, meditation, and pranayama. Rasa Yoga was founded by Sianna Sherman, studying intensively with Pattabhi Jois and BKS Iyengar. I have been teaching yoga for eight years and have practiced for over ten. I currently teach at Shefa Yoga, Grinning Yogi, 8 Limbs Yoga, and various other studios in addition to having a growing YouTube channel. I specialize in teaching private sessions with a focus on functional movement weaving in mobility and myo-facial release to my classes. My primary goal as a movement teacher is body literacy.
I graduated from my first 200-hour RYT training in 2018. Since then, I’ve taken a second 200-hour training, as well as a 300-hour RYT training with Greta Hill. Upon graduating my 300-hour, I assisted my teacher with the 200-hour training program in 2023 and 2024 to deepen my skills within the realm of teaching teachers. In 2025 I started practicing with Carling Harps in the “Mobility Meets Asana” training that is part of the awakening yoga academy. I am currently working with Adelaide Meadows, a female focused movement specialist, refining my skills on teaching yoga, and movement to woman. Woman are under studied and supported in the movement world and I am striving to do my part in contributing to supporting women and their health through functional movement.
My greatest passion is bringing movement to every person that wants to learn. I love working with beginners and people that don’t consider themselves “yogis.” This is why I thrive in corporate yoga settings. I truly cherish the opportunity to show newer students that there is a space for them on the mat, and that once they have created that space, they have a practice to return to again and again. When you have a consistent yoga practice, a yoga mat becomes much more than a mat; it becomes a sacred space to call home at any moment in life.
When joining my class, you can expect a blend of yoga, functional movement and mobility. My goal is for you to gain knowledge about how your body is moving in space, understand what actions you are creating inside the postures to move your body, and ultimately gain a greater sense of body awareness through practicing actions and drills rather than just pure asana.
My Yoga Story
I came to yoga at age 20, yearning for a way to silence my busy thoughts during a difficult time in my life. I was taken back by how much yoga was able to shift my state of mind into a calmer, more connected space. The more I practiced, the more I craved being on my mat.
Two years later, I signed up for my first 200-hour yoga teacher training, and that’s when things began to truly shift. As I continued learning and evolving my skills as a teacher, I became curious about different movement modalities. I now weave different styles of movement into the practice. Myo-fascial release (essentially self massage) became my go-to practice for some time. I have also added mobility and functional movements into the practice. I am highly fascinated by PT. Physical therapy has helped me many times to heal injuries but it also helps prevent them and manage them. I now weave exercises I’ve learned through my own PT journey into the yoga room as a way to prevent injuries before they occurs.
Interests and Hobbies:
I am deeply connected to nature. I love being outside and spending my time out in the woods. Hiking was my favorite hobby before I found yoga. I also love top-rope climbing and bouldering. I find that climbing is the perfect cross-train to a yoga practice. In the summer, when I am not teaching, you can typically find me in my backyard reading a book, or in the mountains setting up my campsite for the night. Once the sunshine goes into hiding for the winter months, you will still find me up in the mountains, snowboarding and drinking hot tea by a warm fire. I also love traveling to different countries and immersing myself in the cultures of each destination. What I have learned most about myself in my 20s thus far is that I thrive the most in community. I believe my most authentic self shines through when I am in community and creating sacred connection with others.
